Abstract
There is always a host of uncertain information in a intelligent fault diagnosis system. Besides the traditional random and fuzzy information, we have discovered grey and uncertain information in diagnosis systems. The uncertainty of information determines that of knowledge. In this paper, firstly, we discuss the concept, classification and theoretic frame of uncertain information. Then, four kinds of uncertain knowledge for diagnosis and the corresponding approaches are advanced. Finally, the general uncertain reasoning model and an example of the model are given
