Abstract :
This paper discusses suitability of a novel tapped-inductor converter for home DC power supply system. Advantages such as high efficiency, compact size, low cost and high reliability are achieved by the characteristics like the buck converter. A laboratory prototype of a coin size (34mm × 26mm × 5mm), which can convert the voltage from 48V input to 1.2V/30A output, was tested. As a result, maximum efficiency of 91% and 88.3% efficiency under full load at 500kHz are realized in the experimentations.
