Abstract
This paper presents the results of a 2-D finite element (FE) analysis conducted on a doubly salient permanent magnet (DSPM) motor to study the effects of manufacturing anomalies like (i) shifting of stator poles from the central position either in the clockwise (CW) or counter clockwise (CCW) directions (ii) flat faced rotor poles. These defects can occur in the motor due to defective dies or coarse handling.
