Abstract
Overvoltage is created on carbodies of a highspeed electric multiple unit (EMU) when the train raises its pantograph or when its main circuit breaker is switched. This paper outlines the mechanism behind the phenomenon of overvoltage generation on carbodies of the highspeed train, proposing suppressing method, and the results of verification of the method. The results indicate the efficiency of the method, where the overvoltage is reduced by 50% from the maximum.
