  • Abstract
    Summary form only given. Organic thin films are emerging as promising materials for optoelectronic devices. However, they are not suitable for many applications based on the luminescence since the room temperature quantum efficiency of thin pure dye layers is very low (on the order of a few percent), mainly due to various nonradiative relaxation channels in the films. For many applications, like the very promising efficient white emitters based on frequency-shifted emission of blue LED, high quantum efficiencies approaching unity are needed. We present here new results that show very high fluorescence efficiencies for dilute organic dyes dispersed in an inorganic matrix. The films can be produced with a dry technology and are very promising for lighting applications due to their reproducible and stable properties.
