Abstract
Considering the necessity of introduction of an economic and ecofriendly soil stabilising material, this study analysed the suitability of coconut shell, husk and leaf ash to stabilize the lateritic soil. After mixing the prepared coconut shell, leaf and husk ash with the collected lateritic soils, the consistency limit tests, engineering property tests and durability tests were done on both the stabilized and unstabilized states with the addition of various proportions of shell, leaf and husk ash (CSLHA) contents. The results show the addition of CSLHA improves the strength properties of soil. The optimum amount of CSLHA to be added for pavement construction is found to be 7%.
