Every time stator winding maintenance is to be done, hydro generator field poles are parts that are taken out/in on the rotor rim, being a high risk operation, as the field pole are a fragile piece of the generator, risking a pole damage. Repair a damaged field pole can take take months if the damage is a mayor one, and has to be done overseas at foreign contractor workshops, so to have spare parts pole pieces ready to fit in the rotor rim is a must. Currently there are no standard guide or papers support for writing a bid for tenders to buy new spares field poles.
