Abstract
In this paper, the frequency-domain physical optics expression is derived from the normal electromagnetic scattering field calculation, and the general time-domain physical optics (TD-PO) expression is derived by inverse Fourier transform, and thus a time-domain physical optics calculation formula of an ideal conductor´s scattering in the far field region is given. The metal plate and metal sphere´s transient scattering in the far field region is programmed. The calculation results show that the time-domain physical optics has the lower requirements on computer hardware and faster computational speed. It is an efficient method to analyze electromagnetic scattering problem for electrically large objects.
