Abstract :
Stochastic characterization of ultra-wide band emissions from complex PCBs is performed using principal component analysis. A reduced set of empirical orthogonal eigenmodes and their associated amplitudes across a scanned planar area are extracted. Rotated and unrotated solutions are in-tercompared and interpreted physically. The method is illustrated for measured emissions from a microstrip transmission-line based inverter circuit. It is shown that the modelling complexity can be reduced by at least one order of magnitude.
