  • Abstract
Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) can be used to provide broadband wireless Internet access through Internet Gateways, the inherited selfishness problem from multi-hop ad hoc network is attracting more and more attention from many researches. As wireless mesh routers may belong to different network operators, in the aim to provide sufficient Internet throughput to its clients or avoid traffic congestion, a selfish mesh router fully or partially drops the relay packets originating from other mesh routers. In this paper a game theory and network coding based design of mesh routers deployment is proposed to solve this mesh routers selfishness behavior. Theoretical analysis and extensive simulations can show how our algorithm (TDNC) can increase the network throughput in the presence of selfish mesh routers and better ameliorate network performance compare to oblivious routing for WMNs and shortest path routing without any incentive.
