Abstract :
A new scheduling algorithm to serve more than one user simultaneously using a system which combines space time block coding and beamforming in the downlink transmission is proposed. The proposed algorithm uses channel conditions and information on the spatial distribution of the users based on their direction of arrival (DoA) to prioritize them for service. The performance of the proposed algorithm is compared with conventional greedy and round robin scheduling algorithms. Simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithm exhibits improved performance in terms of BER and capacity when compared to the other two algorithms.
