Abstract :
This paper introduces a novel spatial coherence constraint and a motion field refinement method to enhance the accuracy of motion estimation and to reduce artifacts for motion-compensated frame rate up-conversion. A low-complexity algorithm is described to impose the spatial coherence constraint. Experiments demonstrate that the proposed motion estimation method reduces artifacts around small or thin objects and improves the PSNR for interpolated frames comparing to the 3-D recursive search motion estimator.
