Abstract
Summary form only given. We extend the theory of double-chirped mirrors and derive an explicit expression for the chirp of the Bragg wave number, in order to achieve a given, arbitrary group delay dispersion (GDD). The analytically derived mirror designs are close to the desired design properties without any computer optimization, even for mirrors without TOD or with negative TOD. A free choice in the TOD will be of great importance in the pulse compressor design of CPA systems.
