Abstract
One of the most time-consuming phases of knowledge and model Wed systems development is related to the modeling of application domains. One approach to shortening this process is to reuse domain specific models during the life cycle of a product. A chemical distributor is used to demonstrai how standardized formalisms defined in ISO 10303 STEP) and lEC 1131 can be used when developing models for model based diagnosis. Also, problems hat are still open for research are discussed.
