Abstract
Sensor networks is an eminent field growing rapidly. Many applications use the sensors to provide flexible service. Sensor nodes are randomly deployed in the sensing field and usually cannot be recharged or replaced. The energy efficiency is the determinant factor of the network life time. Various routing protocols are used to reduce the energy consumption and to improve the network lifetime. In this paper, we have proposed a modified clustering protocol to minimize the energy consumption and maximize the network life-time. The Cluster-Head is selected through the base station. The performance of this protocol, EBCDCP, is compared with CBCDACP (Central Base station Controlled Density Aware Clustering Protocol) and CELRP (Cluster based Energy efficient Location Routing Protocol). The simulation results show that EBCDCP reduces overall energy consumption and improves the lifetime over its comparatives.
