  • Abstract
Summary form only given. In a packet-switching network, buffer memories are required to resolve the contention problems. Random-access buffer memories can further facilitate the quality of service requirements to prioritize delay-sensitive packets. Among all the reported optical buffer memories, only the WDM type of fiber-loop memory can perform such a function. However, most of the reported WDM buffer memories are very hard to scale up. In this paper, we demonstrate a scalable and modularized random-access fiber-loop memory to facilitate optical-packet-switching networks.
