Abstract
Summary form only given. Subpicosecond switching with the symmetric Mach-Zehnder (SMZ) all-optical switch has been demonstrated. The minimum full-width at half-maximum of the cross-correlation trace is less than 1 ps. To our best knowledge, this is the fastest switching experiment with incoherent and thus realistic, efficient nonlinearities.
