Abstract
Performance evaluation of a three-phase AC servomotor drive having Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system is presented in this paper. The Supervisory Control on drive is implemented using a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) to monitor and control the drive performance. Mathematical modeling, simulation and experimental studies have been carried out on the drive system. The drive performance under different operating speed and load conditions is determined. A Human Machine Interface (HMI) for real time operation of the drive is also implemented and described. Operation of AC servo drive in speed mode and its effect on power quality of utility system has been also analyzed for a laboratory prototype servo drive system.
