Abstract :
Unscheduled Interchange (UI) Mechanism is a frequency based tariff policy which governs the economic aspects of inter-state power transfer via Regional UI pool and was introduced throughout India in 2002–03. The existing UI Mechanism takes into account frequency ‘f’ of grid as the primary variable to determine price. The aim of this paper is to find out whether change in frequency ‘Δf’ of or due to individual turbine-generator systems must be considered while calculating UI tariff or not. A Three Area Interconnected Power System having Ring Topology is considered for investigation. The power system under study consists of the following three turbines. • Single Stage Non-Reheat Steam Turbine • Single Stage Reheat Steam Turbine • Hydro Turbine The power system is studied using Integral Automatic Generation Control (AGC) and Linear Optimal AGC. Two simulations, each subjected to fourteen test runs, have been done.
