    Summary form only given. We have demonstrated the simplest, all-solid-state, UV short pulse Ce:LiSrAlF/sub 6//Ce:LiCaAlF/sub 6/ master oscillator power amplifier (MOPA) system pumped by the fourth harmonics of a conventional Q-switched Nd:YAG laser.
