  • Abstract
    Summary form only given. Sr/sub 2/Be/sub 2/B/sub 2/O/sub 7/ (SBBO) is crystallized in a space group. The crystal is negative uniaxial. By use of a high-temperature flux method with SrB/sub 2/O/sub 4/ as the flux, crystals of size 5/spl times/5/spl times/4 mm have been grown. The growth temperature ranges from 1050-1100 C with the melt point very near to the upper end. The crystal is transparent from 160-3780 nm. According to the D/sub 3h/ point group, there is one second harmonic generation (SHG) coefficient that was determined as 1.52 pm/V by use of the phase-matching method.
