Abstract
In this paper, we propose a switching control scheme for uncertain autoregressive moving average exogenous (ARMAX) systems that is effective in guaranteeing the stability of the controlled system. The adopted switching control methodology is "estimator based", in that the switching logic relies on the extended least squares (ELS) parameter estimation procedure for controller selection and switching. The proof of the stability result requires an accurate analysis of the closed-loop identification properties of the ELS estimation algorithm when combined with switching control
