Abstract :
A new method for parametric fault detection was presented at the ACC2002[Felecio, P., et. al, "Applying parametric fault detection to a mechanical system", Proceedings of the American Control Conference, pp. 139-144, May 2002]. The method uses linear fractional transformations to represent parameter variations and relies on Hinfin filtering for the estimation of certain signals that may allow the computation of those variations. The present paper reports results on another test to the method. Although the previous results indicated it could perform well it is shown this is not the case for the simple electric system treated here. Comparisons are made to previous results and to the results of a conventional recursive least squares identification method for the same electric circuit parametric fault detection task. Conclusions show the new method may be of limited application
