Abstract
Moment method solutions to the MFIE are often less accurate for a given mesh than corresponding solutions to the EFIE. We use the variational property of the method of moments to argue that the slower MFIE convergence is caused by the identity operator associated with the MFIE. A regularization is given that improves the convergence rate of moment method solutions to the 2D MFIE by three orders of magnitude.
