  • Abstract
Summary form only given. In this paper, we report a new method, time-gated injection, to reduce the spread of buildup time together with the time jitter in the TEA CO/sub 2/ laser. In this method, the injection beam is introduced to the TEA laser cavity after the gain becomes sufficiently high. The time required for the longitudinal-mode evolution in the early stage of buildup is shortened and the fluctuations in the buildup time caused during this period of time can be eliminated.
