Abstract
Summary form only given. We present experimental results indicating photorefractive (PR) space-charge gratings, that are formed in the paraelectric phase, induce dipolar gratings that are not erased by direct illumination. The experiments were done using potassium lithium tantalate niobate (KLiTaNbO/sub 3/), with a phase transition at T=170 K.
