Abstract
A specialized computer architecture for the processing of rule-based expert systems is investigated. The architecture extends the features of rule-based systems to incorporate features for handling the problems associated with dynamic problem domains. The system addresses the problems of temporal data, uncertainty, priority, and other characteristics of dynamic domains. In addition, a novel multiprocessor computer architecture was developed with specialized processing units for supporting the processing demands of rule-based expert systems. This design is simulated to evaluate its effectiveness, and the results of the simulation are summarized
