Abstract
As an option to conventional power system stabilizers (PSS), FACTS-based stabilizers can be applied in power systems to damp system oscillations and improve system oscillation stability. This function of damping control is implemented by adding a supplementary stabilizing signal on the primary control loops of FACTS devices. The paper presents a systematic introduction to recent research developments on this subject. By concentrating on the published work with contributions from the author, the consistency of the introduction is maintained.
