Abstract :
The effect on differential binary phase shift keying and multi-level orthogonal frequency shift keying is considered. Results show that both noncoherent modulation schemes are subject to an irreducible error rate in the phase noise contaminated channel, which increases as the data rate is reduced. There is a minimum useable data rate for any given bit error rate (BER) requirement. The results are compared for choice of the most suitable modulation scheme for a given data rate and BER
