Abstract :
India assumes a significant position in Leather landscape of Asia. India has well proven itself as a potential sourcing destination for Leather and Leather products. Indian Leather industry occupies a place of prominence in the Indian economy in view of its massive potential for employment, growth and exports. Though India is the second largest producer of Footwear and Leather garments in the world, India accounts for a share of close to 3.2% in the global Leather import and hence there is a huge scope to enhance exports and increase the market share. The author believes that an explanation of the challenges faced by Indian Leather Industry in exports of Leather and Leather products would enrich our understanding of complexity in business.
