Abstract
WDM creates a market for advanced subsystems such as add-drop multiplexers and crossconnects, tunable and multiwavelength lasers and detectors. Progress in the field of PHASAR-based photonic integrated circuits, the next generation of waveguide router subsystems, is reviewed.
