Abstract
We propose an algorithm using picture type conversion to treat all the possible cases in compressed domain frame accurate MPEG-2 video editing. The algorithm is based on a general open GOP. Conversion procedures are developed for each case. Experimental results show the algorithm is applicable to typical VBR applications, e.g. DVD players and video servers. A rate control scheme is also described with preliminary experimental results
