Abstract
Efficient numerical simulation of integral formulations of electromagnetic radiation and scattering problems requires the use of a compression algorithm for the underlying Green function. In the following, we apply an efficient image-based plane-wave compression algorithm (ICA) to inverses of boundary integral formulations of scattering inside PEC (perfect electric conductor) cavities. The proposed algorithm is based on two results. As discussed in another paper at this meeting, a procedure has been developed to compute the translation operator from sparse samples of the Green function. Second, as discussed in the following, the number of image terms required to accurately model multiple scattering events on the surface of a PEC scatterer grows slowly with the size of the scatterer.
