Abstract :
This paper gives a general overview on software defined radio technology and demands on frontend technologies, which are relevant research topics. Based on the definition on reconfigurability in future heterogeneous environment, it introduces the objectives of reconfiguration, means and scenarios of reconfigurability. By considering the importance of sharing radio resources in future co-existing radio networks, the highly related network-coupling topics are addressed. The heterogeneity of broadband spectrum where reconfigurable technology is the enabler is discussed. With the evolution of enabling technologies, multistandard terminals, multiple transceiver equipped terminals and requirements for antenna technologies are discussed.
