Abstract :
A utility theory process for making a mitigation decision on harmonic resonance in an interconnected power system containing upstream capacitance is developed. A user friendly template is developed, focusing on the application of utility theory for making decisions and applied to a case study wherein the process identifies the need for a filter, which is designed and shown to be effective.
