Abstract
This paper is concerned with the kinetic modeling of time-dependent oscillations in charged particle systems under the control of the magnetic fields. The expansion of an ionized cloud, the flow in a jet and the time-dependent disturbances in a rarified plasma due to its interactions with surfaces are three examples of this kind of problem. These problems are not only of fundamental interest in their own right, as they enable one to concentrate on the effects of the ambient magnetic fields, but also have some practical interest in the space sciences and in astrophysics
