Abstract
The electromagnetic behaviour of two typical building materials, a brick wall and a chipwood panel, has been characterised from real measurements. First, the transmission and reflection coefficients at 5.8 GHz had been measured for both perpendicular and parallel polarisation of the incident wave. An internal multireflection method has been used to compute the electromagnetic constants that lead to the best fitting between the computed and the measured coefficients. Moreover, the depolarisation degree has been also computed in order to reach a complete characterisation of the materials.
