Abstract :
A multiphase resonant inverters for bidirectional wireless power transfer is proposed in this paper. Two identical coreless inductors with series resonant capacitors are used to create a wireless power link. In order to provide bidirectional operation, a symmetrical structure with inverters on both sides of the wireless power link is implemented. Both inverters are identical and were designed as two-phase full-bridge inverters with a common resonant circuit. A hybrid phase-frequency control method is implemented to provide a wide range output regulation. Finally, the proposed topology and a control strategy is verified by experiments. A prototype of the proposed bidirectional wireless DC/DC converter has been designed, built, and tested with an output power up to 1.8 kW.
