Abstract
A mechanical flexible system consisting of a supporting solid and an elastic system attached to it is considered. The supporting body is in frictional contact with another body (the base) which executes a specified motion. The problem of estimating the maximum displacement of the supporting body relative to the base is studied for the class of disturbances which are generated by the base. Analytical expressions are obtained for the estimates. The limiting cases in which the value of the estimate is identical to the maximum possible displacement of the supporting body are analyzed
