Abstract
This paper focuses on the problem of the large time behaviour and the structure formation for nonlinear hyperbolic equations. These equations can arise as simple models in complex elastic systems occurring in numerous applications. Our aim is to describe simple models where we can, in a sense, control the large time behaviour and the spatial structure by adjusting system parameters. The approach given below is analytic in more complex situations. It is probably necessary to develop approaches, which are more calculative
