Abstract
This paper presents the design of an embedded system to measure the impact of road vibrations for vehicle users in three dimensions. A three axis accelerometer is used to measure the vibrations; and the sensor module is placed in a car driven on some roads in Bangalore. The detailed analysis in this paper discusses the acceleration levels (measured as g forces) encountered, and the possible implications on health conditions. This paper is a first step in measuring and analyzing road quality in three dimensions; and serves as a precursor for a complete six dimensional analysis of vibration impact on drivers.
