  • Abstract
Real life is always complex. Humans try to master it by behavior that is more or less complex or simplified; over-simplification causes complex rather than simple consequences. Social responsibility and open innovation are human tools to master some kinds of complexity. Social responsibility (SR) is a non-technological potential innovation (renewing human values, culture, ethic, and norms) that provides a chance for innovative change by its basis: ; Interdependence and holism as SR´s essence in the ISO 26000 [15] on SR (linking its 7 core subjects, supported by its 7 principles and 7 steps of making SR normal) and : European Union´s [9] support SR´s definition that SR means one´s responsibility for one´s impact on society; member states and big enterprises should be its role models. Innovation makes a crucial impact on society. It results from the complex `idea-suggestion-invention-potential innovation-innovation-diffusion process´ (IIDP), before authors´/owners´ benefit. In IIDP specialists of several professions are necessary. Narrow specialization is necessary, but equally so is one more specialists´ capacity: cooperation that helps humans to prevent oversights and resulting failures, because it enables more holistic thinking/behavior. The narrow specialization is so strong that many hardly see that (requisitely) holistic thinking/behavior - enabled by interdisciplinary creative cooperation, backed by (ethics of) interdependence - makes specialization of any profession and organization much more beneficial than any operation inside itself alone. Owners, managers and staff can benefit from SR, but need knowledge and values to implement SR. Government and other influential entities should support them with the model suggested here, to master complexity of the open IIDP by SR.
