Abstract :
Spectrum occupancy measurement is one of the important researches in Cognitive Radio (CR) area, providing a way to look for spectrum holes for CR devices to access. Through one week continuous spectrum monitoring of 470-806MHz TV band in dense urban area, this paper studies two calculation methods to determine the spectrum occupancy threshold, namely 20% root-mean-square method (20%RMS) and amplitude probability distribution method (APD). Application scope of the two methods has been given by comparing the different outputs of occupancy results, gives an idea for further threshold calculation in spectrum occupancy measurement.
