Abstract :
Estimation of binding lifetime has remarkable impact on the system performance. A longer binding lifetime may provide wrong information about the location of the mobile node where as a very short binding lifetime may cause network overheads in the form of higher exchange of binding refresh messages. The increase in message exchange intensifies the signaling load which in turn generates considerable overheads for mobile node. Even though binding lifetime is an important parameter, it has received comparatively less attention from researching community. We propose a novel analytical algorithm to find optimized binding lifetime by considering parameters such as binding update rate, signal to mobility ratio and call duration under different conditions.
