Abstract :
Low energy critical infrastructure monitoring (LECIM), a portion of IEEE 802.15.4k standard, supports various emerging applications which have essential behaviors of lower energy consumption, safety, reliability, long range and preventive maintenance. With the advent of 5G eras, spectrum resources will be sparser for the increasing demand on naturally limited frequency spectrum. One possible solution to this problem is spectrum sharing with other networks, like machine-to-machine systems. Software Defined Radio with real-time signal processing frameworks offers a basic method to implement transceivers. In this paper, we implement an IEEE 802.15.4k DSSS PHY transceiver on GNU Radio platform with Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP). Then, spectrum sensing is performed at this transceiver in order to detect the spectrum hole of incumbent LTE networks, where the spectrum can be shared between the incumbent LTE network and the secondary users. After spectrum sensing, this transceiver will transmit LECIM signals on the detected spectrum hole to improve spectral efficiency.
