Abstract
A 0.22-THz artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) on-chip antenna has been designed using CMOS process. The design consists of a double-dipole at the top layer M1 and the bottom layer M6, a novel AMC structure at M6. The dipole structure is design to enhance impedance bandwidth. With novel AMC structure integrated into bottom layer, the antenna performance can be optimized and improved. The size of proposed antenna is 400×170µm2 and bandwidth shows around 66 GHz (200∼266 GHz) under the condition of voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) less than 2. Gain of the antenna is up to 0dBi at 220 GHz.
