Abstract
The paper presents a two-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic model of a high-current vacuum arc. The main areas of interest are the arc column and anode areas. Homogeneous current density and ion flows from the cathode region are assumed. The fluid and current flows between the plane electrode is analysed numerically. It shown that the present model has a threshold current, which, in the author´s opinion, is related to the critical current of the transition of the vacuum arc to the anode spot mode
