Abstract :
To reduce the fabrication cost of the 10 GbE wideWDM (WWDM) transmitter module, a polymer PLC platform with a 4-to-1 multiplexer, a V-groove for fiber alignment and electrodes for LD bonding was developed. The excess insertion loss of the fabricated platform is less than 1 dB. The difference of the insertion loss among the channels and the wavelength dependence of the insertion loss are both less than 0.3 dB. These results show that this polymer PLC platform can provide a low-cost and high-performance 10 GbE WWDM.
