Abstract :
The principles of good management are timeless; the technology which we deploy to enable good management changes rapidly. In this presentation we consider the relationship between data and management using a case study of healthcare technology management (HTM) to illustrate two main issues. The first is how we keep basic principles in mind in a fast changing world, and link rapidly changing tools to timeless principles. The second is how we take advantage of rapid developments in mobility of tools and data to provide the best outcome for patients. With HTM it is easy to focus on the technology and forget the patient, so the holy grail is finding a solution that works easily and intuitively for the user, and enables them to concentrate on what they are there for, which is to keep the equipment running. Regarding HTM as a factor in patient safety is the overall principle.
