Abstract
Today wireless sensor networks are deployed in large scale in different applications for accurate monitoring. For the purpose of energy conservation, generally such techniques are used that favor collection of data at intermediate nodes. The three main functions of a sensor are sensing, processing and communication of data in which communication is most expensive in terms of energy In this work, a novel algorithm EDRINA i.e. Extended DRINA is proposed. It is compared in different scenarios with two known solutions: DRINA and SPT. The obtained results shows that our proposed EDRINA algorithm has better energy conservation as compared to SPT and DRINA algorithms.
